When it comes to planning events, meal planning can be a difficult task to master. Your event can be great but the food can leave the guests unsatisfied if the food is sub-par or
not to their liking.
Understand your Guest Preferences
Take all things into consideration here such as their taste preferences (older crowds tend to like a milder menu), health consciousness, ethnic background, and their willingness to explore new options.
Give them Options
Providing options ensures you will have at least one things someone likes. It is notpossible to please everyone, so options make it a little more possible to make everyonehappy. It is recommended that two to three choices be offered for the entree, sides, condiments, and at least two for dessert.
Anticipate Accommodations
Some guests may have allergies, religious restrictions, or special dietary restrictions. You should be aware of this and try to accommodate their needs.
Incorporate the Theme
Choosing the best meal types, foods, and drink items for your events are important as well. Keep in mind the amount of time allotted for your guests to eat, the utensils needed to eat the item, and if the taste of the food goes with your event theme. For tropical themes, maybe incorporate hints of tropical fruits in some of the foods or
drinks. Summer and spring themed events can incorporate refreshing flavors like limeor lemon. Use this as a fun way to get creative with your food and drink offerings as well. Try housing the dishes and drinks in different vessels or adding unique accents to your dishes that go with the theme.
