Have you ever wondered how the professionals decorate a bed? It all comes down to the layers and details.
Setting the Foundation
The key to anything good is having a solid foundation. When selecting your bed frame, mattress, and sheets, opt for the best. Think of all the time we spend in our beds! We should be as comfortable as possible. When it comes to sheets, professionals typically choose white because its a classic color and can virtually go with any design. I wouldn’t mind a light neutral color either.
Laying the Sheets
After laying the fitted sheet, lay the top sheet reverse the way you’d normally do it. This allows the soft top coating to wrap around you as you get into bed.
Layering Up
By adding layers, you create a styled bed look that is not only comfortable but also inviting. Have fun when layering! Try out a new color palette, add a pattern or two, or even mix and match patterns and colors. For cooler weather, add a quilt on top and
sleep under the duvet. For warmer nights, fold the duvet down to the foot of the bed or switch it out for a lighter one.
Pillow Talk
You should typically match the larger shams to the duvet and place them behind the
pillows that match the sheets. Next, accent your style with different colors, sizes, patterns, and textures for the accent pillows. Theres no such thing as too many pillows so add as many as you want! However, the average is about 3 accent pillows (2 that match or are similar in size and color and then 1 smaller or larger).
Finishing Touches
Casually draping a folded throw on the corner of your bed is usually all it takes to tie everything together and make it look how the professionals would. Feel free to add any
accent decor items such as our Abigail Vase to your nightstand or anywhere else in the room too. A well put together bed requires a little work, but it’s worth it!
