If you have an extra room that you want to use as a guest bedroom, it should be used solely for that purpose. Often we allow this space to be used as a dumping grounds for miscellaneous things like laundry, storage, etc. If you have an unexpected guest, you’ll be running around trying to find a place for everything to be moved to or hide in.
A guest bedroom should be a welcoming space that your guests will enjoy and feel comfortable in. Here are some ways to create that space:
Declutter
Remove any clutter and personal items from the room, this will give you a clean slate to work with.
Paint
Does this room flow with the rest of the house? A fresh coat of paint can give the room a new look and new feel.
Furnish
Guest bedroom essentials include a comfy bed, a nightstand or side table, a chest of drawers, overhead lights, bedside lights, and a mirror. Your furniture should flow with the room and not make it feel cluttered. Before looking for something new, try to upcycle what you have in the house already.
Welcome
Make your guests feel welcomed with magazines or books, easy to access outlets, and a towel set.
